| The Souhegan Valley Chapter of Dollars for Scholars is a (501C) non-profit organization that has been awarding college scholarships to Milford students for over 40 years. Because we are staffed completely by volunteers, we are able to keep our expenses at less than one percent of the monies we raise. We raise money to help defray the high cost of a college education for deserving high school and college students from Milford. These scholarships are awarded based upon academic merit, community involvement, work ethic, and financial need. We hold multiple fund raising events through the year including: mailings to the community, carnival, bake sales, car washes, Night of Giving in partnership with the Simon Youth Foundation, Easy Spirit Freedom Walk and our appeal to the business community. We also distribute scholarships donated by charitable trusts. We are part of a national organization, Scholarship America, which has established matching partner programs with many colleges and universities across the United States. (You can read more about this at Scholarship America). Contributions are doubled through this partner program. We meet the third Tuesday of every month (except July and August) in the library of the Milford High School at 7PM. We are your neighbors. Join us. |
